| Baton Rouge sits over Club New Orleans, in a beautifully renovated sandstone building, in the style of a New Orleans Bordello. There are feathers, Mardi Gras masks, mood lighting and trussed corsets aplenty. This is a room that will make anyone familiar with New Orleans sense a feeling of Down home. The music is contemporary, New Orleans Jazz and Zydeco. You can't eat the music but you will rave about the food. They serve the best seafood gumbo that I have ever had in New Orleans or elsewhere in the United States, easily the best in New York City. The Pecan Crusted Catfish in Praline Sauce is tearfully memorable and the Slow Roasted Herb Crusted Lamb Chops with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Creamed Spinach will transport you to another world. Try the Hurricanes, which will remind you of Bourbon Street. The tableside flambe demonstration of Bananas Foster is not to be missed. We highly recommend. |
